This is the raw landscape as the landscaper was just getting started. The grooves in the landscape with the rushes are swales which convey the rainwater like irrigation water in furrows on a farm. That big tree was an old olive that a farmer sold. I called for two of these on my plans. The other is on the other side of the library. They line up with one another on an axis which passes through the building. Each craggy old olive tree is framed in a view through the library's floor to ceiling windows.
